Indigenous Peoples’ Day

On the second Monday in October, we observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day to celebrate and honor Indigenous Americans and commemorate their histories and cultures. This day celebrates, recognizes, and honors the beautiful traditions and cultures of the Indigenous People.

For people wanting to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, look out for community events, including Whittier’s own Indigenous   Peoples Day Festival on October 13, 2024 to be held on the  culturally historic Whittier Blvd. This day will feature entertainment, an artisan marketplace, traditional foods and educational workshops and ancient Indigenous games.

Here at the Friends of the Whittier Public Library bookstore we have a good selection of related books so please ask one of our volunteers where to find what you are looking for or have fun browsing our shelves!
