Happy Arts Month ;-)

Every year World Art Day on April 15th celebrates the fine arts and promotes awareness of creativity worldwide. In this spirit, the LA county libraries offer a variety of programs and events that highlight the significance of art and artists in the community. In collaboration with the LA County Department of Arts and Culture, the library has introduced the Civic Art Passport, a fantastic guide for families to explore civic artworks across 22 library locations. This initiative encourages patrons to discover and engage with public art pieces that enrich the cultural landscape of Los Angeles County.

Nearby  participating libraries include the Los Nietos Library, the Sorensen Library and the South Whittier Library. Visit the LA County Library website for more information and/or also virtually visit the artwork displayed at these branches through links provided on their website. By engaging with art, we can discover more about ourselves and the world around us, and cultivate empathy and understanding.

Thank you to the LA County Library system for promoting the benefits of art and providing free access to artworks made by diverse artists, which reflect the values and cultures of the communities where they are installed.

And of course, our bookstore volunteers are happy to help you find books that reflect the rich diversity of the art world.
